Australian Actress Naomi Watts has beat other contenders to play the sought after role of Princess Diana in a film about the last years of her life.
Caught in Flight will focus on the two years before Diana's death in a Paris car crash while being pursued by paparazzi in August 1997.
Oliver Hirschbiegel, best known for film Downfall, which depicts Hitler's last days, will direct the film.
Watts, who received an Academy Award nomination for 21 Grams, said she felt honoured to score the role.
Filming will start later this year.
