Australian mockumentary series Angry Boys
has come under fire from conservative Americans who claim a recently-aired episode featured content "akin to showing child pornography".
US network HBO is currently airing the Chris Lilley-created series, shown on Australian TV last year.
The offending scenes, showing a young girl drinking from a penis-shaped bottle as well as a mother forcing her teenage son to pretend to be gay, have right wing groups up in arms.
"It's difficult to imagine that HBO would go any lower," Dan Gainor of the Culture and Media Institute told Radar Online.
"HBO's new show Angry Boys includes one episode so foul that they have a little girl drinking from a giant cup made from a replica penis. Oral sex 'humour' involving a young child shows precisely where the left's mind is really at," he fumed.
Wow, who knew Chris Lilley had so much influence over American politics?
Lilley has also been accused of racism — by Australian and US viewers — for his use of blackface when in costume as African-American character S.Mouse.
… Aussies didn't have much of a problem with the gay kid or the penis cup, though! Check out a scene from the show here, in which a pushy Japanese mum (played by Lilley) decides that her son should "oil up" and act gay in order to boost his profile as a pro skateboarder.
