One Direction, the band creating teenage hysteria mirroring that seen in the 1960s for rock group the Beatles, is about to hit New Zealand.
Kiwi fans are camped out awaiting the band's arrival at Auckland Airport on Thursday even though airport staff have put up a sign saying the group will not be making a public appearance.
The boy band made up of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson created hysteria across Australia where they have just toured.
The band is performing in Auckland on Saturday night and in Wellington the following evening.
A petition signed by more than 300 people on Twitition.com has been set up by a fan called Laura asking Kiwi girls to hold off from stealing the boys' clothing and "eliminate pushing, shoving and trampling" when they arrive.
"We want them to come back again, and they won't if we go crazy like we did for Justin Bieber," the petition reads.
Laura also suggests the fans sing a song from the band's album and dance as they arrive in New Zealand.
One Direction shot to fame after competing in the UK's television show X-Factor in 2010.
