Surveillance footage has shown Underbelly actor Matthew Newton lying on the floor of his Miami Beach hotel beside the staff member he allegedly punched in the face.
The troubled actor has been charged with battery and resisting arrest over the alleged attack, with the CCTV showing him pushing papers to the ground and striking the Courtyard Marriott clerk.
In later footage, as the man lies on his side on the floor covering his face, Newton is seen lying beside him, staring at the ceiling.
Newton then rolls onto his knees and talks to the employee.
The alleged assault took place at 4.51am on April 17, before police came to his hotel room and arrested him later that morning.
If convicted, Newton could face a maximum of 365 days in jail, police sergeant Freddie Cruz said.
Newton was arrested earlier this month for allegedly refusing to leave a bar in Miami.
He is also facing assault charges in Sydney for allegedly punching a taxi driver.
