Hilary Barry won the coveted best news reader award at The New Zealand Radio Awards, held last night in the Auckland Town Hall.

Famous Radio personalities Sean Plunket, Willie Jackson and John Tamihere did not get a look in in the talkback category and were beaten by relatively unknown Mike Yardley from Christchurch Newztalk ZB.
The Rock's controversial "win a wife" contest, which offered the chance to fly to Ukraine to select a prospective wife from a bride agency, was named the best network radio promotion.
Jay-Jay, Mike and Dom from The Edge took out best breakfast show, beating other finalists The Rock’s Morning Rumble and Canterbury’s MORE FM.
