Chloe Sevigny tackled a unique new challenge for her new TV series involving, er, tackle.
The 37-year-old indie film darling wore a prosthetic penis for her role as a pre-op transsexual contract killer in Sky Atlantic thriller Hit and Miss. But strapping on fake genitals every day wasn't a bundle of fun for Chloe.
"I cried every day when they put it on. You know, I'm ample-chested and I have this on. I felt very exposed, and it was hard, very hard, having people so close to your personal parts anyway — who you're not sleeping with — for an hour-and-a-half each day, to put it on," she revealed.
She added that it made her feel "lonely … and really unattractive" when she looked into the mirror.
"I was confused about my desirability — was I desirable? — in having put that on, and having men see me with that on," she said.
Twelve years ago, Chloe was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Boys Don't Cry, playing the lover of transgendered teenager Brandon Teena, a role that won Hilary Swank Best Actress.
In the new UK series Hit and Miss, Chloe plays Mia, a transsexual assassin who is appointed guardian of a new family, "forced to mix her killer instincts with more maternal ones".
So that makes Chloe a woman playing a man who's now living life as a woman.
Chloe also commented that her look might've helped her get the part.
"I have some masculine features. I've seen myself on screen and look quite masculine. I could see why they wanted me for this part. But I wasn't offended," she said.
Paul Abbott, the writer behind UK comedy Shameless, has penned the series. The show has been picked up by ABC2 in Australia, with no air date announced yet.
