Kiwi filmmaker Zia Mandviwalla has missed out on winning a prestigious award at the Cannes film festival.
Zia Mandviwalla's Her film Night Shift was among ten finalists competing for the Short Film Palme D'or, announced this morning (NZ time).
But the award went to to Turkey's L. Rezan Yesilbas for his silent film Sessiz-Be Deng.
Night Shift, Mandviwalla's fourth short film, tells the story of an airport cleaner who is trying to make it through another long shift.
Mandviwalla's previous work has earned her a number of international selections at film festivals in Pusan, Melbourne and London.
