BBC confuses Xbox Halo logo with United Nations symbol

02:00 Wed May 30 2012
BBC producers were left red faced after they aired a 'United Nations Space Command' logo instead of a 'United Nations Security Council' logo during a recent news broadcast.

Viewers were quick to spot the blooper, recognising the 'UNSC' emblem from the popular Xbox video game Halo.

The graphic appeared during a serious report about the UN's involvement in the current conflict in Syria.

A BBC spokesperson later admitted, "BBC News makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all images broadcast, however very occasionally mistakes do happen.

"Unfortunately an incorrect logo was used during a segment on last week's News at One bulletin and we apologise to viewers for the mistake."
