Mads Mikkelsen has been cast as the latest Dr Hannibal Lecter in the upcoming NBC TV drama
Hannibal.
Mads is best known for playing the villain Le Chiffre in Casino Royale opposite Daniel Craig (he was the one who beat Daniel while he was tied to the chair … naked) and now taking on the role made famous by Anthony Hopkins.
The show’s premise is the Hannibal Lecter pre-Silence Of The Lambs, helping out FBI profiler Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy) who is unaware is a monstrous murderer and cannibal.
"He's not being telegraphed as a villain," i>Hannibal writer and producer Bryan Fuller told EW.com.
"If the audience didn’t know who he was, they wouldn't see him coming. What we have is Alfred Hitchcock's principle of suspense — show the audience the bomb under the table and let them sweat when it's going to go boom."
