Internationally renowned Kiwi actor Sam Neill is set to return to New Zealand screens, starring in a new television drama series alongside Oscar Knightley.
Neill will star in Harry, a six-part crime drama being produced for TV3.
Set in Auckland, Harry follows Detective Harry Anglesea, played by Knightley, as he investigates a major murder case.
Neill will star as Detective Jim "Stocks" Stockton, Harry's boss and mentor.
Knightley, who co-wrote the show, says it's an honour to have Neill involved in the project.
Producer Steven O'Meagher says the draft scripts piqued the interest of Neill, who has never acted in a New Zealand drama series.
"Sam O'Neill is one of our greatest-ever actors, and his agreeing to play Detective Jim "Stocks" Stockton is a huge endorsement on the quality of the series," he said.
Filming for the series gets under way on Sunday.
