The Nine Network has snared a ratings trifecta for the second time in four days after State of Origin III pulled a record viewing audience on Wednesday night.
The deciding NRL game that Queensland won by one point averaged 2.626 million viewers, which Nine claims is the biggest audience ever for a State of Origin match since official ratings began.
The previous record was set on May 23 this year when 2.515 million tuned in for State of Origin I.
Nine's coverage of the deciding match between NSW and Queensland in Brisbane was split into three 'shows'.
The match was the most watched, followed by the State of Origin Post Match show that pulled 2.328 million viewers, while the Pre-Match program was viewed by 1.568 million.
Last Sunday, Nine had the three most-watched shows for the final of The Block, which was also divided into three programs.
It's only been recently that shows such as The Block finale and State of Origin coverage have been rated as three shows, not one.
Sitting in fourth spot on Wednesday was Seven News (1.339 million) while Nine News (1.260 million) was fifth.
Network Ten's MasterChef dished up good ratings for the culinary inclined pulling 1.255 million viewers to be sixth.
Today Tonight (1.176 million) and A Current Affair (1.073 million) were seventh and eighth respectively.
Long running soapie Home and Away was ninth with 971,000 viewers, while ABC News was 10th with 907,000.
