She’s one of the world’s richest and most successful pop stars, but Rihanna is taking her former accountants to court for “mismanaging” her finances.
The Barbados-born singer is suing accountancy firm Berdon LLP who managed her finances between 2005 and 2010.
Rihanna’s attorney filed the suit last Tuesday and is seeking compensation for lost earnings and gross mismanagement of the 24-year-old’s considerable income.
The accountancy firm has been accused of claiming sizable commissions from several of the singer’s sell-out concerts tours and concealing facts regarding her finances.
The firm has also been accused of shoddy book-keeping practices and failing to recover millions of unpaid royalties.
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, began dealing with the firm at the tender age of 16 when her career was just starting to flourish.
The singer has also claimed that she is being audited because of the accountancy firm’s negligence.
The case has been filed at Manhattan federal court this week although it is not known when legal proceedings will begin.
