Mary Kennedy, the estranged wife of Robert F Kennedy JR, had three types of antidepressants in her bloodstream when she died, an autopsy report shows.
Kennedy, 52, who had been battling depression, was found dead at her home in New York in May in an apparent suicide. Her death followed a difficult two years, during which her husband filed for divorce and she was charged twice with driving while intoxicated.
Documents from the autopsy conducted by a Westchester County medical examiner, and obtained by the New York Post, revealed tests showed Kennedy had at least three antidepressants in her blood, but there was no sign she had been drinking alcohol prior to her death.
Officials found traces of trazodone, desmethylvenlafaxine and venlafaxine in her body, according to the publication.
The architectural designer and environmentalist is the latest member of the charmed and cursed Kennedy family to fall victim to tragedy and inner demons.
A private funeral service for Kennedy was held at a modest stone church north of New York City attended by a list of celebrities including Susan Sarandon, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, tennis great John McEnroe and musician Paul Shaffer.
