The 20 best New Zealand songs of the past year have been named
The Silver Scroll Awards, now in their 47th year, are judged by an anonymous APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) panel and is widely seen as New Zealand's most prestigious song-writing awards.
The panel select the top 20 Kiwi songs from the past year, then more than 8000 other members vote for five finalists.
The finalists will be named in August and the winner will be announced in September at a gala dinner.
Veteran Bic Runga’s Everything is Beautiful and New and Anna Macdonald’s popular tune Girl In Stilettos are among the artists in this year’s top 20.
Chart toppers Six60 have also been nominated for their song Forever.
Previous winners of the Silver Scroll include Don McGlashan, Neil Finn and Chris Knox.
Avalanche City's hit Love, Love, Love won the award in 2011.
