The latest Mad Max movie is finally being filmed, an ocean away from Australia.
Filming is due to continue until December in the Namibian desert, according to Fairfax, which says locals are "bemused by an array of contraptions" director George Miller has brought in for the shoot.
Mad Max was due to be filmed in the Broken Hill area, but that was kiboshed by heavy rains that transformed the usually dry region into a lush, verdant playground unsuitable for a movie meant to be set in a post-apocalyptic desert.
This prompted a decision to find an alternative location, hence the decision to film in Namibia.
According to Fairfax, Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw is on the set this week, making her Hollywood debut.
