Ryan Gosling and Charlize Theron are reportedly in talks to play alleged murderer Oscar Pistorius and the girlfriend he killed in a new film.
Hollywood insiders told the Daily Mail newspaper that the superstars have been approached to take the lead roles in a biopic about the South African athlete's spectacular fall from grace.
Ryan is the first choice for the role of Pistorius, while Charlize who was born in South Africa is tipped to play Reeva Steenkamp, the girlfriend Pistorius shot dead in his Pretoria home on Valentine's Day.
"You've got one of the world's most famous sportsmen under arrest and a beautiful young woman who meets a violent death," a source said. "Scripts began doing the rounds within days of the scandal breaking.
"Ryan has the kind of quiet magnetism that would make this project work plus there's some mystery about him.
"Although Ryan has been saying publicly that he wants to take a break from acting to relax, executives will be falling over themselves to woo him once the scripts are finalised."
Pistorius is currently awaiting trial for Steenkamp's murder. He has rejected the homicide charges, saying he accidentally shot and killed the model after mistaking her for an intruder.
Pistorius is due back in court in June.
