'Frauds': Milli Vanilli slam today's pop stars

The surviving member of Milli Vanilli has said his career-destroying lip-sync scandal paved the way for generations of future talentless pop stars.

In 1990 the chart-topping duo were busted lip-syncing during a live performance on MTV when their backing track skipped.

Members Fabrice Morvan and Rob Pilatus were then stripped of their Grammy Awards after a session singer came forward claiming he was one of the real singers on Milli Vanilli's album Girl You Know It's True. Their manager at the time confirmed that neither Fabrice nor Rob sang any of their own hits.

Fabrice told TMZ yesterday that there is "no difference between what I did back then and what people are doing now.

"If you wanna break it down, people might say, 'Well you didn't sing,'" he said.

"But the fact of the matter is ... now the machines are doing it."

Fabrice argued that the widespread use of Auto-Tune in pop music fools fans into thinking their idols can sing. Just like his miming fooled Milli Vanilli fans way back when!

"I ain't pointing the finger, but if you're doing all this and you're not performing the song live ... then you're not doing anything different from what I did."

He has a point! T-Pain, anyone? - nomobile -->

These days they would just have auto tuned them and used them in exactly the same way as Rob and Fab in the 90s - lip syncing, good looks, and energetic dancing. R.I.P. Rob Pilatus
