If anyone needed further proof that holograms of dead musicians will be the next big thing at live concerts, '90s R'n'B girl group TLC has announced they will bring back dead member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes in hologram form for a reunion tour.

On the tenth anniversary of Lopes' tragic death in a car accident, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas will tour the US this year with "Left Eye" projected on a big screen, vocals included, TMZ reports.

The hit-makers behind 'Waterfalls', 'No Scrubs' and 'Unpretty' have already booked five major cities and are planning more.

TLC sold more than 50 million albums and are the third highest-selling girl group of all time, behind Destiny's Child and the number one group, the Spice Girls.

Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and Kurt Cobain are just some of the names being mentioned for a posthumous hologram revival, after rapper Tupac emerged from the grave in hologram form at the Coachella Festival last week.

However, the trick is not strictly "holographic", according to the company who worked with Dr Dre to bring back Tupac.

"While it's not 3D and it's not holographic, it gives you ... an illusion of that," said AV Concepts CEO Nick Smith.

The "hologram" effect draws upon a 150-year-old stage-craft illusion involving a transparent screen called "Pepper's Ghost".
