Shocking: Former Lost star gets freakishly ripped for new movie role

Matthew Fox has been pretty quiet since his TV show Lost ended in 2010, and now we can see why.

The 45-year-old former Party of Five actor has undergone a shocking transformation for his next movie role as a cage-fighting murderer in upcoming thriller Alex Cross.

Shedding his bulkier build for a freakishly sinewy and veiny fighter's body, Matthew looks virtually unrecognisable as crazed serial killer Picasso in the first pictures released for the film. Sure, there's got to be some lighting and make-up involved, but he looks scarily convincing.

Matthew Fox now: Honey, I'm hoooome ...

Then: Getting Lost.

You may remember the character of Alex Cross played by Morgan Freeman in Kiss The Girls and Along Came a Spider (former adaptations of James Patterson's novels). This film is something of sequel, with Tyler Perry taking over the role of the detective, who is targeted by Matthew Fox's bad guy.

It's Matthew's first film since Lost finished, and he obviously wants us to see him very differently.

The actor made headlines in early May after being arrested for driving under the influence and without a license. Late last year, Fox countersued a female bus driver who had sued him for allegedly punching her in the breast and groin on a party bus. He claimed he'd lost work because of the media reports of her lawsuit.

Alex Cross is out October 25.
