Robert Pattinson getting sick of making Twilight films

While fans patiently await Twilight's fifth and supposedly final instalment, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 (out November), the series' heartthrob Robert Pattinson is finally tiring of playing sullen vampire Edward Cullen.

"Playing the same part for a while, you just run out of ideas. You feel kind of useless, you don't know what to do anymore," he told ShortList magazine.

"I'm not trying to get away from it. You're screwing yourself, you're saying you think your work is s-- if you try and get away from it. And I never thought it was. But I kind of got to the end of my inspiration. You get to the point where you're like, 'I don't want to do a film for a teen audience anymore'."

You could say that again. R-Pattz recently played an amoral, bed-hopping womaniser in period corset-ripper Bel Ami, but it's his turn in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis that's really getting people talking.

While Cannes Film Festival critics are mixed about the sex-and-violence-packed drama, the 26-year-old actor is getting huge praise for his performance as a spoiled young billionaire on a deadly 24-hour bender in Manhattan.

A Variety critic called his performance "seductively reptilian", while a Huffington Post reviewer said he sheds "his Twilight skin for something more substantive and reminiscent of Christian Bale in American Pyscho".

Still, R-Pattz refused to go nude for director Cronenberg.

Rob told Metro France that the Dangerous Method director asked him "to see the bottom of your b---s on the top of the frame".

"At the moment, I reminded myself that I would do anything for him. So I went back to see him and told him that wouldn't happen," he said.

"He took it really well. At the start, it's a very bizarre scene that you won't see again in another movie, I promise."

Speaking of another movie, that upcoming Breaking Dawn flick is apparently "so odd that it becomes kind of funny", Rob told the Star. He added that he is "excited" about the film coming out "because it's quite different".

It seems he's not completely over Twilight just yet.
