Harry Potter's Tom Felton has debuted a rather deathly look on the Budapest set of his new period drama starring Elizabeth Olsen (pictured right) in the title role of Therese Raquin.

Gaunt, pale and slightly balding, the 24-year-old actor looks nothing like the heart-throb posing up a storm in a sexy photo shoot last year.

Thank goodness he's just in character. Tom plays Camille, Therese's husband who she murders so she can remarry Laurent (Oscar Isaac). Naturally, Camille returns as a ghost to haunt them — that would explain the white make-up.

It's a very different part for Tom, who played a nasty chimp abuser in 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, replete with a tan and questionable American accent.

Tom is proving to be one of the most employable Potter-ites, with The Apparition co-starring Twilight's Ashley Greene out in October, and two other films in pre-production.
