Grumpy dwarfs plan '100-midget march' against Snow White casting choice

Hollywood's little people are planning to demonstrate against the casting of average-sized actors in the movie Snow White and the Huntsman.

Actual dwarfs were overlooked when producers cast the film's iconic "seven dwarfs" (or rather, "eight dwarfs," in this adaptation of the classic fairy tale). Instead, average-sized actors played the roles and were later digitally resized in post-production.

Matt McCarthy, who represents a little people's theatre group in Hollywood, says he plans to lead a "100-midget march" in protest.

"In response to and in protest of this incredible injustice and prejudice, the Beacher's Madhouse midgets and I are coordinating a 100-midget march to Universal's offices," Matt wrote in a letter to Universal Chairman Adam Fogelson.

Matt argues that casting average-sized actors as Snow White's dwarfs "is the equivalent of Universal casting a white actor to play a role written for an African-American person and digitally changing the colour of their skin".
