Lindsay Lohan to make movie with porn star

You've got to hand it to Lindsay Lohan : she sure knows how to generate headlines (whether she likes it or not). The 25-year-old's latest talking point is her being cast opposite a porn star in her next movie, The Canyons.

The new thriller, written by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho) and directed by Paul Schrader (American Gigolo), will see Lilo act alongside James Deen, who has made around 2000 adult films since he started in the industry in 2004, aged 18.

James earns up to $22,000 a month for his adult movie efforts, and is loved worldwide by both female and male viewers for his "regular guy" look (although he's apparently more than regular in other departments).

Lilo's character is described as a woman who has "sold her pride for the material comforts".

"I am beyond thrilled that James Deen and Lindsay Lohan will be playing the parts of Christian and Tara in The Canyons ... Could not have dreamed of a better cast. Lindsay nailed it," Bret tweeted yesterday.

The plot follows "five twenty-somethings' quest for power, love, sex and success in 2012 Hollywood", according to Bret.

Nothing like Lindsay's real-life experiences, naturally.

The film's producer Braxton Hope is, well, hopeful about Lindsay's involvement.

"Lindsay is incredibly charismatic in person, but unfortunately she is someone whose publicity can overwhelm the most essential fact that she's enormously talented," Braxton told E!. "There's no question that we all want her in this role and we all want her to succeed."

Lilo is set to start shooting next month, when she finishes the Liz Taylor-Richard Burton TV biopic Liz and Dick (see video below).

Let's hope she doesn't end up in any more car accident dramas or on-set wardrobe malfunctions in the meantime.
