Katy Perry has opened up about her split from husband Russell Brand, admitting she cried so much backstage during her California Dreams tour that she had to adopt a special stance to stop her tears from destroying her fake eyelashes.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the singer admits, "There were times when what was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming that I had to bend over to let those tears fall straight out of my eyes and not my false lashes just as I’m about to go up on that ramp and sing ‘Teenage Dream.’”

Katy split from her comedian husband Russell after less than two years of marriage. But despite their failed relationship, she says, "I still believe in love."

The 27-year-old has been dating 22-year-old Florence and the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd for the last few months.

The pair went public with their relationship after these pics were snapped of them getting cosy at Coachella Festival.
