Justin Bieber is being sued by the mother of one of his fans for hearing loss — it sounds like the beginning of a really bad joke about the quality of his music, but trust us, it's not.

According to Ace Showbiz, Stacey Wilson Betts took her daughter to a Justin Bieber concert in 2010, and now claims that the deafening noise of his fans' screams and a "sound blast" that "exceeded safe decibel levels" damaged her hearing, leaving her with severe tinnitus (a ringing in the ear) and hyperacusis (an oversensitivity to sound).

At the gig, Bieber allegedly "created a wave-like effect of screaming by pointing into various sections of the arena" and "then enticed the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving his arms". Sounds like pretty standard concert fare to us.

The teen pop star isn't facing the suit alone, with his record label, Island Def Jam Records, the concert promoter and the arena named as the other defendants. Betts is seeking a whopping $9.23 million in damages.
