A third marriage for Kim Kardashian? Kanye designs engagement ring

Despite the fact that her divorce from Kris Humphries is yet to be finalised, Kanye has asked a jeweller to design a "one-of-a-kind" ring for the 31-year-old reality TV star.

And it won't be just any ring. Kanye is reportedly using diamonds from his late mum Donda's personal collection.

"Kanye picked out some of Donda's most expensive pieces, including diamond earrings and a ruby ring," a source told Radar Online.

"He then gave them to a private jeweller friend to make Kim a one-of-a-kind engagement ring."

The source claims Kanye's heartfelt offering reflects the fact that he loves Kim "just as much as his mum".

It's a gesture of epic romantic proportions, but the rapper's friends aren't impressed with his decision to part with Donda's prized possessions.

"[They] think it's a terrible idea and are advising him not to give Kim the ring," a source said.

"Because it's a gift, it would be difficult for Kanye to ask for it back if they ever split up."

The reality TV star famously refused to part with the ring Kris Humphries gave her when she filed for divorce from the NBA star following their 72-day marriage.

Given Kim's record, and both stars' sky-high egos, it could be a matter of "when" rather than "if" their relationship crashes and burns.
