Miley's long engagement: 'I don't care about the wedding'

In a new interview with Marie Claire the 19-year-old revealed she and fiancé, Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, are yet to plan their wedding (much to the relief of singer dad Billy Ray!), putting to rest questions about whether she's too young to marry.

"I don't really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we've made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement," she said, adding, "Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with."

They might not be walking down the aisle in a rush but recent reports suggest Miley and Liam are keen to pop out kids as soon as possible.

Apparently they've had heaps of practice looking after the five dogs they own together.

Miley also spoke to Marie Claire about Liam's proposal — and it seems he is as sweet and spontaneous as he is hunky.

It was a "complete surprise", Miley told the mag, revealing the 22-year-old actor didn't consult her or her parents before getting down on one knee.

"I had no input," she said.

"We'd just been kind of talking about getting engaged … I saw [the ring] online at one point and though it was really pretty … I just love that it's old and has a story. And I'm happy because it doesn't look like anything else I wear."

Ah, yes, Miley's 3.5-carat diamond (see below) is certainly her best friend.
