Kris Jenner sold Kim Kardashian's sex tape to make her famous

Kardashian "momager" Kris Jenner will do anything for her daughters' fame and fortune, but how far is she prepared to go?

Apparently far enough to sell her favourite daughter Kim's sex tape to get her famous, a source has told Star magazine.

According to the insider, Kris played a key role in scoring a deal for Kim's homemade adult film with Ray J, Kim Kardashian, Superstar.

"Kris was totally involved in arranging the sale of Kim's tape," the source claimed.

"The video already existed, and Kris was there every step of the way as a middleman brought in to market it to an adult entertainment company."

The "leaked" tape, made back in 2003, ended up getting an official release through Vivid Entertainment in 2007, and previously unknown socialite Kim was suddenly someone worth talking about.

Kris was said to be "thrilled" about the sale, according to the insider, who passed a lie detector test with Star.

"I saw Kris Jenner's signature on the contract; I believe she got somewhere between $250,000 and $500,000 for the original deal with the middleman," the source added.

"Everything she does in this world, every decision she makes on her daughters' behalf, is based on greed and publicity, and has nothing to do with her family's stability or happiness."

Similar claims emerged in June when a former flame of Kim's ex-husband Kris Humphries alleged that he had told her about Kim's "staged" sex tape.

Fatmire "Myla" Sinaj said that basketballer Kris confessed to her that Kris Jenner had "not only directed Kim to shoot her sex tape, but to re-shoot because Kris J didn't think the first one was pretty enough," TMZ reports.

Kim's younger sister Khloe called the idea "disgusting and disturbing", telling TMZ it was probably her former brother-in-law's "fantasy".

Kim told Oprah in a TV interview that she felt "humiliated" by the sex tape.

Nevertheless, Kris J and her daughters scored their own reality show out of the saga, and Keeping Up with the Kardashians was born. Our lives have never been the same since.
