Uncensored: Rapper Azealia Banks' condom-blowing magazine cover banned in seven countries

If you haven't heard of Azealia Banks yet, you're about to hear a lot more of the mouthy 21-year-old bisexual female rapper.

The rising New York hip-hop star, known for her graphic sexual lyrics in the songs '212' and 'Liquorice', has sparked outrage by appearing on the cover of British-based style magazine Dazed & Confused blowing up a condom like a cigar.

Accompanied by the headline "Azealia Banks blows up", the September issue has since been banned in at least seven countries, including Singapore, Malta, Switzerland, India, Thailand and Dubai.

Azealia has not commented on the controversy, other than posting the cover on her Twitter page and writing, "YAY! THE DAZED AND CONFUSED COVER FEATURING MOI HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!!!!"

Dazed and Confused editor Rod Stanley told the Evening Standard he knew the cover would get tongues wagging.

"I knew this cover would be talked about, but didn't expect a confident, young woman posing with an inflated condom to cause this much fuss," he said.

"It's funny that in a world where extreme images are so accessible, someone posing with something that is used for safe sex is what we get worked up about."

In the interview, the Harlem rapper opens up about her painful childhood, in which her father died from cancer when she was two, and her mother became "really abusive" as a result.

"It was like growing up a feral child, being raised by this person who was always yelling and screaming, hitting you and dragging you around and s---," she said.
