The 'Don't Wake Me Up' singer has announced his split from model Karreuche Tran after weeks of rumours that the 23-year-old R&B star is back with ex Rihanna.

"I have decided to be single to focus on my career. I love Karrueche very much but I don't want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna," the singer told HollywoodLife.com.

"I'd rather be single allowing us to both be happy in our lives."

But we wouldn't say he's an eligible bachelor just yet. Chris was spotted "hugging and kissing" his pop star ex who he physically abused back in 2009.

Rihanna and Chris reportedly hooked up in a nightclub toilet in New York earlier this week.

Since then, the troubled exes have been seen meeting up at another bar, leaving the same hotel within five minutes of one another, and snuggling at a Jay-Z concert overnight.

A music journalist at the concert tweeted, "Me thinks Rihanna just entered the VIP with Chris Brown. Wow", before posting an Instagram picture of Chris with his arm around the 24-year-old 'We Found Love' singer.

Are they or aren't they back together? The evidence points to a reunion.

RiRi tweeted last night, "Tough times don't last ... But tough people do!!!"

"Both are free from it all!" Chris posted back.

Even Chris' ex-girlfriend Karreuche thinks they're more than "just friends", according to TMZ.

A number of sources told the paparazzi site that Karreuche feels "betrayed" by Chris for allegedly seeing Rihanna behind her back.

If the rumours are true, then RiRi and Chris really did find love in a hopeless place.
