Keira Knightley admits it: "I used to be too skinny"

Pirates Of The Carribbean beauty Keira Knightley spent years defending her bony frame as being due to a 'quick metabolism'. Now the slimline star has confessed she realises she looked a bit 'scrawny'.

Keira's mum denied her daughter was anorexic earlier this year — and Keira told Glamour magazine she's now working hard to 'beef up'.

"Now I work out once a week with this woman, who's great — I need a drill sergeant standing next to me to make me do things," she told the magazine.

"Until this year, I've worked pretty constantly and I think you get to the point where you just need to stop for a minute.

"I hadn't worked out for about a year. A friend bought me a few sessions with a personal trainer for Christmas, so I've stuck to it.

"Before the trainer, I think I'd lost weight if anything. I lost muscle, so I looked scrawny. I don't know if [the training] has changed anything, but it did make me feel good."

Keira recently became the target of UK comic who Graham Fellows, who released a single titled 'Keira Knightley, Eat Your Dinner'. Lyrics include "Keira, Keira, eat your dinner/Keira, Keira, you can't get much thinner."

I agree with Sienna Belle. How can it be wrong to criticise someone for being overweight, but be fine if they are underweight.

There are too many naturally skinny and healthy girls who are being criticised. We discourage discrimination against the chubby but attack those who are skinny. They're opposites, but the same theory should be applied - it's the same problem. Keira was very skinny but she didn't have an eating disorder and she wasn't publicly encouraging diets or exercise routines that flatten your stomach and blah. She hardly ever dwells on that unlike some. I'm not a big fan but she fully did not deserve that treatment she received and the accusations were discriminating.
