Comeback! Britney looks hot in cheeky new MTV ad

Britney Spears refuses to be bummed over her disastrous MTV VMA's performance last year — in fact, she's filmed a commercial promoting the event this year!

Appearing alongside the show's host, UK funnyman Russell Brand, Britney looks awesome — and shows she isn't afraid to poke a little fun at herself.

Both Britney and Russell have battled massive personal problems in the glaring spotlight of the media — and are joined in the ad by a massive elephant in the room - get it?

In the ad, which was reportedly ad libbed, Russell asks Britney for advice on how to perform at the VMAs, where Britney spectacularly stuffed up last year with a shockingly out-of-it performance.

Britney takes the dig in her stride, biting back at the hairy Englishman by calling him 'Russell Brown', pretending she didn't know who he was.

Pete Wentz and LL Cool J then appear in the ad to back her up, dubbing Russell 'Russell Bland'.

Brit's guest role in the ad is causing serioius whispers that she will appear at the event next month — could she be staging a proper comeback this time? With an actual awesome performance?

She's been nominated for a few gongs on the night, so she may well be making an appearance of some sort.

Come back Britney! Show us you've still got it!

you go girl britney!! even after all the stuff shes been through with the world watching and what people have said shes proving people otherwise, im so proud of her it takes a strong woman to stand up against people scrutinising her. i think another go at the VMA's would be great its nice to see shes nominated for some awards

You have a beutiful whanau (family)who needs you, everyone makes mistakes, the "key" is that you never give up trying.
