Hugh Jackman won't deny he's gay

, Prev Next

Hugh Jackman has got to be one of the gayest straight men in the celeb world. And he really is straight (he's got a wife and everything!) ...but he won't say he's not gay, either.

Addressing the long-standing rumours about his sexuality in an interview with Parade magazine, the Aussie star explained his reason for refusing to confirm or deny that he's gay.

"I'd be happy to go and deny it, because I'm not. But by denying it, I'm saying there is something shameful about it, and there isn't anything shameful," says Hugh.

As well as showing his support for the gay community, Hugh put in a good word for Australia too…

"The questions about sexuality I find more here in America than anywhere else, because it's a big hang-up and defines what people think about themselves and others. It's not a big issue in Australia."

Yeah, you tell 'em Hugh!

Hugh Jackman has a pretty large gay following - thus his weak denials. He's used negative positives "I'm the worst straight guy" and non-denial denials, but he'll never come out and say "I'm straight as an arrow, I am not a homosexual, never was, never will be". Either way you look at it that sounds a bit intolerant, and he'll get flack for that. I supposed it's a lot easier for him to live with the ambiguity than to risk offending a percentage of his fans. And maybe he does bat for the other team once in a while - who cares, it's the guy's private life.
...sorry, perhaps I didn't make myself clear enough, what I meant is that just because you say you aren't gay doesn't mean you're saying it's a shameful thing. Just like when gay people say "I'm not straight" they aren't saying that it is shameful be heterosexual. It is a pity for all of us if in this way too politically correct world, someone can't say what he is or isn't because he may be offending someone else. Believe me, gays are not offended if there happen men in the world who are or admit to being straight. I think the celebrities who really refuse to be puppets for the media also happen to be the ones who are most frank and refreshingly upfront and honest these days. Having said this Hugh seems to be really nice guy and a great father by all accounts.
I know that he would look amazing with that beautiful man on New Zealands Next Top Model Colin Mathura-Jefree. He will make Hugh's nights all cosy, Cant wait to see him tonight on TV, I love them both- they would be the it couple of 2010
This goes to jordan, Auckland! And where is your logic? "By admiting that he is hetrosexual he is somehow saying that it is shameful to be gay?" Your words not mine...LMAO The man never once said that being gay is shameful, he just refuses to commit to being a puppet for the media and is taking the mickey as they deserve it! I give Hugh the thumbs up for sticking the two fingered salute to those that would have the stupidity to think he would buckle to media pressure....Go Shuggy!
So by his logic, if he admits he is heterosexual he is somehow saying that it is shameful to be gay? how ridiculous!!! Shouldn't the message be that everyone accepts themselves as they are, whether gay, bi or hetero? Therefore, admitting your own personal preference doesn't mean shaming anyone else. Just be honest for goodness sake!
Did you mean to say that being gay is nothing to be proud of??? Because it definitely is. Often Gay people are far more open to ideas and meeting new people. Your comment was very confusing
stop with the misleading, *** entertainment website. Bring back the polls!!!
Being Gay has nothing to do with it! I bet the reporter just got bored and decided to write about sexuality instead of something much more worthwhile! I just find this article weird!
I do not think the media can accept that anyone today is not gay. What is the big deal. being gay is nothing to be proud of. But I suppose there's comfort in numbers.
