Emma Watson wants to be anonymous

, Prev Next

Like her Harry Potter character Hermione Granger, Emma Watson is a bit of a smartypants herself. She's off to university in September to study English literature and art. As for which uni she's headed to? No one knows.

Rumours are buzzing about a number of schools in the UK and the US, but Emma won't reveal where she'll be studying.

"I just want to keep it private for as long as I can," she admits to Teen Vogue. "I probably sound like a paranoid nut, but I'm doing this because I want to be normal. I really want anonymity."

Poor girl, she'll probably have that anonymity for the first hour of so of orientation before people start picture-texting their mates and asking her to lend them a quill.

Emma's hoping to live on campus with other students, which she thinks would "be fine" as long as she "didn't walk in and see Harry Potter posters everywhere".

She'll be juggling her studies with her ongoing film commitments and says the Harry Potter producers have been supportive of her decision. "I've been saying that I wanted to go to university since I was eleven, so if they didn't let me, I'd be pretty upset."

Is there such a thing as university in the world of Harry Potter? Where do kids go after Hogwarts if they want to pursue tertiary education?

Anyone know?

Oh Em Gee... I totalli Agree... SHE SO SHOULD COME 2 NZ...
wow. go emma!! there arent many child stars who still want to go to uni. shes a great example for lots of girls!!
she's going to an ivy league school in the US it was in her latest 'INTERVIEW magazine' so reliable source.
If Emma wants anonymity, she should come to uni in New Zealand - people tend to respect others privacy more in NZ, and we don't have CRAZY paparazzi !!!
Well Harry would get a sort-of teritiary education when he goes on to do auror training, wouldn't he? I suppose you have to do some sort of test to get into course (although Harry'd no doubt gets a free-ride, considering he did defeat the most powerful dark wizard of all time.)
Just read the comment at the bottom and saw that you wanted to know if there was a uni after hogwarts... I am a huge HP fan, and no there isn't but they have school wide examinations, and those are likegraduation certificates for jobs in the wizarding world... The OWLs... Ordinary Wizarding levels - which they take in year 5 sometimes make a difference, like if you wanted to be a dragon keeper, you would have to get Outstanding in COMC - Care Of Magical Creatures - But NEWTs matter more - -another exam taken in year 7... if you havn't passed your NEWTs then it is unlikely you will get a good job. Sorry for being a smartypants.
If she wants anonymity she will have a hard time getting it but it depends weather she wants to be treated in her uni as a normal student or in life as a whole, if she wants it for her life then she will struggle as shes being interviewed here and posted on the internet, thats hardly anonymity - which is a lovely word
Go Emma! I think she's an amazing role model to other girls out there that hope to follow in her footsteps.
