Another Star Wars trilogy coming to cinemas?

, Prev Next
George Lucas is plotting a third Star Wars trilogy shot entirely in 3D, according to a rumour doing the rounds on the internet.

The report first popped up on MarketSaw, a blog dedicated to 3D motion pictures, which went as far as speculating that Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola would direct the new Star Wars pics.

While it no doubt got some fans' hopes up, the rumour was debunked faster than the Millennium Falcon can cross the galaxy: Ain't It Cool News contacted Lucasfilm's PR team, which confirmed there are no theatrical Star Wars projects planned.

However, Lucas is working an as-yet-untitled live-action Star Wars TV series, expected to premiere in 2012.

User comments
Mr Lucas should have stopped after the first three he made. He ruined the whole series by retouching the old films digitaly and turning the three prequels into a silly advert for action figures and other crap.
