Joel and Benji storm out of radio interview

Good Charlotte rockers Joel and Benji Madden have stormed out of a Melbourne radio station after taking offence to an interview segment about Britney Spears.

The normally laid-back twins began the interview with Fox 101.9 breakfast show hosts Jo Stanley and Matt Tilley by warning the pair that they were "pretty wrecked" after a big night out.

After answering a few preliminary questions, the Madden brothers were asked to play a game to test if they could sense what the other was feeling.

The game soon turned pear-shaped when Benji was blindfolded and Joel was shown a well-known photograph of Spears getting out of a car without her underwear on.

Benji promptly guessed that his brother was annoyed while Joel made no secret of his irritation.

"I think I'm pretty laid back dude, but you guys are getting on my nerves," he said.

A spokeswoman for the radio show, Vicky Heath, told ninemsn that producers were forced to use the "dump button" to prevent expletives from the musicians going to air.

Joel could then be heard saying "we're outta here" before storming out of the studio just as Tilley was attempting to move onto a new challenge.

His brother left the studio shortly after, Ms Heath said.

Joel was quick to vent his fury at the radio hosts on Twitter.

"Just walked out of a FOXfm interview in Melbourne not in the mood to be a clown," he wrote in a post.

"Most of the time I can put up with idiot morning show hosts but not today. I guess I have finally found some Aussies I don't get on with."

Ms Heath said Joel told producers off air he was offended about being shown the photo of Spears because he was a father.

agreed haldoskye, it's just a shame he didn't speak up for Britney, instead citing 'i'm a father now'. Britney's a mum, she's done some crazy things and come a long way. The Madden guys have always been grounded, not disputing that. But as a parent if i was shown a pic of a famous dude in his birthday suit, i'd whack the person because first and foremost, the dude in the pic is somebody's loved one, somebody's child all growed up, and showing a pic of someone to provoke a reaction is stupid. They walked and kept their dignity, the one on the floor though is Britney, misused by the jock and ignored by the Maddens. Sad all round, never mind, Brit's a winner.

I am in radio, and that *** big headed infantile style of radio is so 1994 and soooo dead. Epic fail stupid radio dorks! I've interviewed the Masddens and they are fun and real cool...

Good for them walking out, dumb *** ozzie. If thats all they could come up with for a interview topic they need to go back to radio school and figure out what people really want to hear.

I'm actually an aussie but lived in NZ for the past 3 and half years, I loved listening to Zm and More FM in NZ and since returning back to Aus this year, ive found either ive matured a little more with talk back radio or Australian radio has just turned straight up crap. Good on the Madden brother's for walking out. Maybe Joel's partner Nicole was a wild girl, but when you become a parent its a little different. Some people are just really stupid and should find out first whether someone would take offence to something before doing it. Having kids doesn't make you a saint, but it makes you or should make you more responsible and have a little taste in what is and isn't appropriate anymore. There's being open minded and then there's being an idiot. A few weeks ago there was also an interview with Vince Vaughn on Triple M if i remember correctly that also ended sour with an unhappy Vince Vaughn, seriously there's a time and place for everything.

wow, some jocks are real puerile, but i would of thought more of Joel if he said he was offended because he was sticking up for Britney. So he's a father now and finds looking at lady bits offensice, but come on, where on earth does he think babies come from anyway, lol? Geesh Nicole was a hell raiser and thought nothing of flashing when she as a dumpy foul mouthed brat. Having kids doesn't make people over into saints, it just makes them people who lived a little and hopefully are more open minded, instead of prissy and rightious lol. ho hum
