Big Day Out gets bigger

, Prev Next

A second round of acts set to play at Auckland's most popular gig has just been announced.

Joining headliners Muse and Lily Allen at next year's Big Day Out on January 15 will be Aussie rockers Jet and superstar DJ Sasha.

Rounding out the rest of the line-up will be Passion Pit, Head Like A Hole, Beenie Man, Devendra Banhart, The Veils, Deja Voodoo, Kidz In Space, Cairo Knife Fight, Mountaineater, True Lovers, Tim Phin, Bandicoot, Lord of Tigers and The Silent Disco.

One Kiwi act making its Big Day Out debut is Midnight Youth who achieved huge success with its first single 'The Letter', from the group's first album 'The Brave Don't Run'.

Simian Mobile Disco DJs will no doubt fill the floor in the Boiler Room.

your stupid comments annoy me, your all so negative, life is about freedom, don't like as mentioned, do not listen, therefor you will have nothing to complain about. keep your nose out of it!!
Okay firstly, everyone needs to get over the fact of the line-up if you don't like it tough luck. Each year its different and if for 2010 you don't like it then simply don't go its not that hard, a lot of people like the bands that are coming, i personally think its a good line up! and with the hole beenie man thing, get over it! he's going notmuch you can do jeez.
Beenie Man won't be playing at the BDO, because of the controversy. I personally don't like the idea of songs about murdering people in my community. But at the same time there is such a thing as freedom of speech. Also he's from Jamaica, and a lot of there countries laws are religion based. Which lets face it, is the white people's fault(I am white so I'd agree there). Also he knows its bad for his reputation to keep preforming those songs, even if he does believe its wrong, he was young when he wrote them, and had no idea that outside of Jamaica that the response would be so negative. Personally I *** love dancehall music, and Beenie Man is one of the greats. Its just a pity about his stance on people like me.
The line up doesnt appear to have any big name acts like in previous years I mean the biggest names I can see in the list are lily Allen and Muse. Isnt it time we got some big name acts back. Are the BDO organizers so difficult to deal with that no one big wants to come here???? Previous years we have had classic rock acts such as iggy and the stooges and Neil young. Lol even Brett Micheals would be an improvement on this years line up all I can say to the line up is Beenie man who gives a *** how many big hits has he really had anyway.??? And Lily Allen and Muse been there done that yawn would it be better to even up the balance of styles and get metalica, chemical brothers or even paramore????
When will they arrange a good line up again?
the big day out line up this year is so LAME!
if you dont like it nobodys making you go to see it, theres so many things that shouldnt be said or sung about or on tv for that matter, but thats just the way off the world and if you dont like it too bad. noones making you go so *** off and let people enjoy it
I'm boycotting Big Day Out if Beenie Man is allowed to attend and perform. BDO organisers and promoters are condoning the killing of homosexuals by inviting him to play, and that is disgraceful. I certainly will NOT be attending if he is allowed to attend. Take a stand.
Many music artists use lyrics that are uncomplimentary and cruel to people of all sorts in both minority and majority. Grow up and move on he or they are just music artists son't take it so personally and suck it up
NZ and BDO should not be giving Beenie Man a platform to perform at the event. Whatever talent he possesses is by far outweighed by his violent prejudices and his hateful statements on record, of which there are numerous. If you also think he should be banned, register your view on BDO and C4 websites.
