Nicole Richie gets her own sitcom

, Prev Next Tabloid favourite Nicole Richie has sealed a deal to produce and star in her very own sitcom.

People magazine reports that 28-year-old Richie, who's married to Good Charlotte's Joel Madden, will loosely base the project around her life.

"The story revolves around a young, modern and professional woman who must balance her business and family relationships," revealed Richie via her website. "She must deal with and navigate the many ideas of what a woman's role is."

"It amazes me to watch and observe how many different ideas there are about what a woman's role should be in this era," Richie continued. "I've taken these fascinating ideas, and compiled them into something that I think will be very special (and funny!)."

She added that the project is still in its early stages, though some details have been released: Californication scribe Daisy Gardner will reportedly write the script, and it will be shot with a single camera in the style of Scrubs and 30 Rock.

Richie's first foray into television was on the reality series The Simple Life, in which she starred alongside Paris Hilton.

Will the show be a hit? Only time will tell. Below is a gallery of some of the worst reality TV shows ever made!

Nothing suprises me anymore. Maybe hubby's not making enough money for her lifestyle and the babies and Daddy cut her off. So I guess you can't blame her for doing what a girl's gotta do. At least she's doing something besides a reality show!! She was funny on The Real Life. She was the one who thought up the anticks and Paris just went along. So maybe it will be a success. Good luck to you girlfriend!!!
Well let's hope she has time to eat. What a preachy brat, glad she's turned her life around and got some smarts, but the credibility will kick in when she closes the doors and keeps her private life private and stay out of the camera shot. Yawn, go get an education instead of playing in the world of celluloid and sound bytes. oh well once an addict always an addict, she's simply changed her substance abuse and now has the ultimate fashion accessory for her show. A baby boy, girl and Benji, in front of the camera doesn not make for a good life.
What's it going to be based on? Sex, drugs, alcohol and daddys hard earnt cash? This little drama queen needs to get a life and get a job.
