Robin Williams headed for New Zealand

Robin Williams

Prepare for some side-splitting laughs — funny man Robin Williams is heading our way to perform stand-up comedy for the first time in New Zealand.

The Oscar-winning actor will kick off the laughs in Christchurch on November 19, with an Auckland show the next day as part of his international Weapons of Self Destruction Tour, according to media reports.

His previous visits to NZ were to promote films — he attended the premieres of Bicentennial Man and What Dreams May Come.

This time he'll be playing 90- minute live sets and shocking fans with the risqué humour he is well-known for.

He might wish he'd headed our way earlier in the year Robin is a self-confessed All Blacks fan.

He told media he was first impressed by them when he saw a video of Jonah Lomu, who he coined as "a wall with legs" scoring "with four Frenchmen hanging onto him".

But the All Blacks will be on the end of year tour in the United Kingdom by November.

Robin Williams
November 19: CBS Canterbury Arena, Christchurch
November 20: Vector Arena, Auckland
Tickets on sale September 2.
