Tom Hanks son becomes 'Chet Haze' the rapper

Chet Haze
Forget Willow whipping her hair, these days it's all 'White and Purple' according to Chet Hanks, the latest wannabe rapper and son of movie star Tom Hanks.

Dropping rhymes under the name 'Chet Haze' the 20-year-old had the blogosphere in a spin yesterday when a remix record 'White and Purple' started doing the rounds. Determined to find out whether he was serious or the whole thing was a joke, The Washington Post unearthed Chet and the college student revealed he's serious about his burgeoning rap career.

"It just came to be something that was: this is what I want to do, this is what I want to pursue, this is the career I want," Chet explained about his love for hip-hop. And he's refusing to let his privileged background stop him from breaking into a scene traditionally scornful of white rappers.

"I thought, like, oh you know, I don't know if I could ever do this. I'm not from the 'hood. I'm not a gangster. I'm a white kid from the suburbs." But the emergence of Drake and other middle-class MCs gave him confidence to keep trying.

"I have talent. Who says that you have to be, you know, you have to fit all the characteristics of being from the hood, all that, to rap? You don't gotta do it."

And if you think Tom aint down with it, according to Chet his parents are "very supportive" and share his "enthusiasm" for what he's doing.
