John Travolta's $100K car gets stolen

John Travolta was left stranded yesterday, when his car was stolen off a street corner.

And this wasn't any old car, either. The thief got away with John's 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL, estimated to be worth around $100,000.

So where was the star when his baby got stolen? At a car dealer of course! Because when you're John Travolta, one $100,000 car just isn't enough. The 57-year-old was checking out Jaguar's at a car showroom nearby.

Ah, the irony of it.

Apparently the Saturday Night Fever star was only away from his Merc for 10 minutes, and returned to the dealership once he realised the car had disappeared to wait for the cops.

John, 57, is known as a plane enthusiast, but revealed he had to satisfy his love for engines with cars before fame and fortune allowed him to indulge.

"I had to content myself with cars before I could ever contemplate owning a place," he has said.

"My first, in 1974, was a 1962 Oldsmobile. I had some minor TV work, got paid and wanted to get on the road. It was a small step to what I wanted to achieve."

John's collection of wheels reportedly includes a Rolls-Royce, Jaguar and his beloved Thunderbird.

So losing the Merc is no biggie, really.
