Emma Watson turns arthouse in new film about 'fame-obsessed teens'

.

After eight Harry Potter movies and her all-too-brief but very sweet role in My Week with Marilyn (watch a cute clip from the film below), 21-year-old Emma Watson is branching out into indie movie territory with her next project, Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring.

Now we all know what kind of wonders Coppola worked for Scarlett Johansson's credibility after Lost in Translation, not to mention a few much-needed career boosts for Kirsten Dunst in Marie Antoinette and Stephen Dorff in Somewhere.

Leaving Hermione Granger behind, Watson has signed on for Coppola's ensemble film about the true story of "a group of fashion and fame-obsessed teens who broke into the homes of celebrities" in Beverly Hills, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It sounds a bit 90210 with balaclavas, but we'll reserve judgment till we see it. Coppola and her co-producers say they hope it'll "reveal a sobering view of our modern culture".

Watson has plenty on the go in her post-Potter career, including Guillermo del Toro's dark reinterpretation of Beauty and the Beast, teenage drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower (co-starring Paul Rudd and The Vampie Diaries' Nina Dobrev), and drama Your Voice in My Head (with her four-time Harry Potter director David Yates).
