He's still rhymin', still writing, still fighting.

Hip hop rapper Scribe stood tall as one of New Zealand's leading MCs, but having gone through addictions, a break-up and losing loved ones in the Christchurch quake has seen Scribe under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Malo Luafutu, better known by his stage name Scribe, spilled the deets to MSN's Magda Cortez about overcoming his self-destruction through his upcoming album and collaborating with David Dallas.

"I started working on this album three years ago," says the ex-Canterburian. "I wanted to get it out last year but the Christchurch earthquake put production on hold."

His third album is to be released later this year and 'Therapy' will be the title.

"I've gone through a lot of crazy stuff like addictions and break-ups and the earthquake added [to the damage] because I had to move to Wellington and mentally I wasn't in a good space," he says openly.

"I lost my flat mate and cousin who I was living with and that was very traumatic. Since the earthquake and the tsunami in Samoa things seemed to be been getting worse, and every time I was close to finishing the record something else would happen."

The process of making 'Therapy' was more of a cathartic experience that's helped Scribe pull through.

"Music is therapeutic for me as a writer and avid listener so that's the premise of the album," He explains.

David Dallas is confirmed collaborate on the album and it will feature the "usual suspects" according to Scribe including, P. Money and 10acious.

He's also working with an up and coming Island reggae star SpawnBreezie and says, "There's going to be some mash-ups which I'm really excited about."

Oh yeah! Besides a new album, Scribe has been an active Choice Not Chance ambassador and will host an episode of Fresh on TVNZ, 7 April 2012.
