The wolf: Jacob (Taylor Lautner) is a member of the Quileute, a Native American tribe whose members a) have the ability to shapeshift into wolves, and b) are all super-hot.
Scare factor: Very, if by "scary" you mean "attractive". Jacob's bulging muscles and frequent shirtlessness mean you'd probably run towards him, not away.
